Gasul sa RAK

RAS AL KHAIMAH — The Department of Economic Development in Ras Al Khaimah (DED) on Sunday issued the price list of cooking gas cylinders for the month of March, maintaining the price of a standard 22kg gas cylinder at Dh90.

The price of an 11kg gas cylinder remained fixed at Dh45, while the 44kg cylinder will be sold for Dh180.

Ahmed Ali Al Buroush, who heads the Consumer Protection Department at DED, said the prices of cooking gas cylinders have been decided after the department held their monthly meeting with representatives of gas companies and distributors in the emirate.

He noted that despite receiving several complaints from some consumers about the high prices of cooking gas, the department has made no alterations in this month’s gas prices as the international prices of gas are still high and the department has got no control over this, since gas prices are determined by free markets.

Al Buroush has however noted that department will continue to monitor gas prices to ensure stability in prices of gas cylinders and to make sure that no further hikes are made as they are keen on protecting the consumers’ interests.

There has been no increase in the prices of cooking gas cylinders since the beginning of this year but scores of residents have been complaining that the current prices are very high and unaffordable for many of them.
