Payments

Finally, just one of my credit cards has its outstanding balance arrived of 55 fils.

Tumambling parin ako kasi bakit may natira pang ganoong amount.

Against All Odds

Tama nga ba na ang pag-ibig ay "against all odds?"

Tama kayong lahat.

Parang Romeo & Juliet, Samson & Delilah, Ennis del mar & Jack Twist.

Kumbaga, walang iwanan.

Kumbaga, "a friend in need is a friend indeed".

My friend T’boli picked us up, and of course kasama si Kabit and by 7:00 PM we reached the vicinity of a party.

From gate down to the aisle, bongga ang presentations, may mga sulo, at marami naring visitors na hindi ko kilala.

When I introduced to them, taga Dubai daw sila, mga kabarangay ni Urduja sa Mindanao.

I recognized some of them like Baby rose and Poloy.

But what I care about that night was Jay.

But pardon me, wala pang nangyayari sa amin.

In the corner of my eyes, I was staring at Jay.

Well, balik sa akin, I find Jay even gorgeous sa suot niyang green shirt, at clean cut niyang hair. I love green ya know.

Naisip ko baka nasa toilet, jumijinggle or worse tumatae.

Huwag kalimutan si Chocolate, Philip Lazaro, Allan K, Enday Garutay, Roderick Paulate, at isama narin natin is Mike Enriquez.

Gretchen Barreto:

What, in her face has been removed, enhanced? She is one of the most beautiful faces in Philippine cinema.

Hindi Queen of songs? Or Princess of Videoke?

La Aunor used to sell cold water by the railroad tracks of Iriga City before becoming the grand champion of Tawag ng Tanghalan (Hagdanan sa Kabituunan in Bicol, meaning, Stairs to Stardom) then the most popular national amateur singing contest in the Philippines in 1967.
She is the only movie actress to receive the Centennial Honor for the Arts awarded by the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 1999, thus naming her Actress of the Century.

She is the first Filipino actress to win an International acting award in a MAJOR Film Festival (Cairo 1995 for the movie "The Flor Contemplacion Story") and the most number of best actress wins and nominations in a Major International awards (Cairo 1995, East Asia 1997, Brussels 2004), and nominations (Berlin 1983, Singapore 1997, Cairo 1999, Singapore 1999). She is the first and only Filipino actress to receive Certificate of Honors (Cannes 1981 and Berlin 1983.

Maniniwala ba kayong pati si Evangeline Pascual ang dating Miss World First Runner Up 1973, para daw laging mukhang galit.

One Dies, 13 Seriously Hurt
In RAK Accident

RAS AL KHAIMAH — A 40-year-old Pakistani worker, Abdul Salam, died on the spot and 13 others sustained serious to moderate injuries when a heavy truck rammed their bus on the Al Luwaei Street on Saturday as they were heading for work.

A source from the Traffic and Licensing Department in Ras Al Khaimah said the 25-year-old Asian driver of the bus did not stop for the coming traffic as he joined the main road.

The Police and ambulances rushed to the scene after receiving the information and carried all the victims
including the bus driver to the hospital for treatment. The truck driver

Kawawa ba sila?

Pacquiao’s toughest fight is in the political ring

His latest victory over Joshua Clottey now in the books, the 31-year-old Filipino Manny Pacquiao faces a much tougher fight in the political ring.

Pacquiao dominated Clottey on Saturday is hoping to make the transition from boxer to politician when he begins campaigning next month for a congressional seat in the Philippine national election.

If elected on May 10, he would preside over a poverty-stricken province of Saranggani on the southern island of Mindanao.

Pacquiao is considered the greatest pound-for-pound boxer in the world but he has his work cut out for him in the political theatre. He ran for Congress in 2007 but failed to get elected.

“I am going to take a one week rest and go back to the Philippines and start campaigning for my political career,” Pacquiao said Saturday after beating Clottey by a unanimous 12-round decision at Cowboys Stadium. “I want to help the people especially in my place.”

Ask when he would fight again, Pacquiao said, “I don’t know. I am going to decide that after the elections.”

I am sorry

“Sorry seems to be the hardest word” but for him it’s so easy to say I’m sorry.

If someone confronted you, your shield is denials, kapag nasukol ka, walang ibang gawin kundi aminin ang kasalanan at mag-sorry.

Nong una, hindi sa binalewala ko, but I asked him to begged her and say sorry for what he did to her. She is my friend.

I was shocked, but never felt jealous nor mad to my friend.

She told me exactly what he said to her, and to make me believed, pinakita sa akin ang mga text niya sa kanya.

That was valentines day this year.

I told him its getting over between us.

Kahit mahirap sabihin, kahit mahirap bigkasin… I said, ‘SORRY’ nalang.

Kapag Inlove Ka

Last Saturday night, I invited him for a dinner in my new place.

He believes in "love at first sight".

complicated

I've been inlove so many times, but this time, its complicated.

I loved him... I love him no more.

He loved me... and he love me still.

False Alarm

I felt very bad about the truth that he will be staying with me for another 99 days, but i dont know when to start.

It can never be a companionship nor love.

Everything is fading away. I dont feel any love at all, kahit gigil man lang.

Can't he felt that I dont see him as lovely anymore?

I wished I could turn back the time. I wished I could start again from scratch. I wished it could be September 4, 2007.

Sine irita

Available parin ang "Percy Jackson, The Lightning Thieft", next shows will start at around 2:40 pm, and t'was 2:25 pm.

Tinawagan ko si Garampingat if he likes to watch the movie, pero walang sagot, I dont know if he was in his work or sa bahay at me lalaki na naman, or ganun talaga iyon pag feel niyang hindi sagutin ang tawag.

I striked my phone keypad to inform kabit, at nalaman ko lang ang reply niya after ng palabas.

Ulan: " Nood ako ng movie kasi last day ng lightning thief, 2:40 ang simula, wala ng panggabi na sked."

Kabit: "No problem kahit hindi kana lumabas jan.

5 minutes kung may kasamang emote at fashion show...

Avatar

I hate war movies.

I love fantasy, horror or comedy.

Mukhang boring...

Gasul sa RAK

RAS AL KHAIMAH — The Department of Economic Development in Ras Al Khaimah (DED) on Sunday issued the price list of cooking gas cylinders for the month of March, maintaining the price of a standard 22kg gas cylinder at Dh90.

The price of an 11kg gas cylinder remained fixed at Dh45, while the 44kg cylinder will be sold for Dh180.

Ahmed Ali Al Buroush, who heads the Consumer Protection Department at DED, said the prices of cooking gas cylinders have been decided after the department held their monthly meeting with representatives of gas companies and distributors in the emirate.

He noted that despite receiving several complaints from some consumers about the high prices of cooking gas, the department has made no alterations in this month’s gas prices as the international prices of gas are still high and the department has got no control over this, since gas prices are determined by free markets.

Al Buroush has however noted that department will continue to monitor gas prices to ensure stability in prices of gas cylinders and to make sure that no further hikes are made as they are keen on protecting the consumers’ interests.

There has been no increase in the prices of cooking gas cylinders since the beginning of this year but scores of residents have been complaining that the current prices are very high and unaffordable for many of them.

Oscar Awards Night

3.30am (UAE time)

James Cameron’s wife Suzy Amis wore a blue dress designed by a school she sponsors, while Cameron himself sported a blue silk pocket square in his suit in apparent tribute to the Na’Avi, the blue race of aliens he created in Avatar.

The director, whose film is up for nine Academy Awards, including best picture, said he had nothing to lose. We’ve been nominated with nine, I look at it as a celebration of what we do as movie makers.

“When people see a movie once it’s a tribute to the marketing campaign. When they see it twice it means they’ve been moved and as a director that’s what matters. There’s nothing to lose. “

3.45am

Mo’Nique, in a crisscross, drape blue dress, declined to show her legs on the red carpet this year, but said she was just enjoying her time in the limelight. The comedienne is up for best supporting actress for her role as an abusive mother in Precious.

“I just want to remember the moment,” she said. She’ll soon be touring the US.

“It is the Mo’Nique spread the love tour. All we wanna do it bring the love.”

4.05am

Sandra Bullock stood out from a sea of maroon in a silver-grey shimmering re-embroidered lace, cap sleeve dress.

“I was trying to find the calming element today,” she said. “I’ve met so many people. We’re all in this crazy business. Most of them are so down to earth. I’ve had such a sweet time.”

Nominated for best actress, the people’s favourite said she was relaxed on the night. Perhaps collecting her Razzie for worst actress on Saturday had calmed her nerves.

“I’m relaxed now. What can go wrong,? Well, lots but there’s nothing you can do about it. There’s no competition, you have to release how lucky we are.”

4.30am

In a tight silver-grey dress, best-director nominee Kathryn Bigelow, up for Iraq-War drama The Hurt Locker, wished her fellow nominees the best – including her ex-husband, James Cameron.

“I wish him well. I’m so excited to be here.”

Like the star of her film Jeremy Renner, she had a shout out for US troops. “I’d like people to think about the troops and not forget about them. Come home safe!”

4.55am (UAE time)

Best actress nominee Gabourey Sidibe, for Precious, in a navy dress was like an excited teenager. “Am I the belle of the ball? Yay me! Yes I do look hot.”

“I’m really excited. I’m looking at it like it’s the prom. It’s pretty awesome!”

5.30am

The show began with the best actress and actor nominees on the stage, with Gabourey Sidibe posing heavily, before Neil Patrick Harris’ opening musical number. “I know – you’re all wondering what I’m doing here,” said the Emmys host, before breaking into a traditional song-and-dance style number, “Nobody Wants to Do It Alone.”

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin have descended from the ceiling and introduced each other to the audience.

“Everyone wants an Oscar and they are very hard to get.”

“6,000 members of the Academy vote, they all get tabulated and counted by Pricewaterhouse coopers. And then Meryl Streep gets nominated.”

5.45am (UAE time)

Christophe Waltz has won his first Academy award, as best supporting actor for his role as Col Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds.

6.15am

The award for best original screenplay has gone to Mark Boal for The Hurt Locker, the first award for the film which is nominated for 8 other awards, including best picture.

“You honour me and humble me more than you know. I was a reporter back from Iraq with a story about these men on the front lines of an unpopular war.”

He dedicated his award to “one extraorginary visionary, Kathryn Bigelow”, and to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

6.45am (UAE time)

Ben Stiller – as he had been rumoured to do – poked fun at Avatar, with a Na’avi costume, including blue face, braid and a long tail, which he said he wanted to plug into James Cameron’s “dragon”. Cameron grinned good naturedly. Stiller was presenting the award for best make up, although Avatar itself was not nominated. The award went to Star Trek, accepted by Barney Berman, Mindy Hall and Joel Harlow. They thanked the over 40 make up artists who worked on the film.

7.00am

Mo'Nique - the favourite - has won the best supporting actress Oscar for her role as the abusive mother in Precious, one of the night’s big awards.

“First, I would like to thank the Academy for showing it can be about the performance and not the politics. I want to thank Miss Hattie McDaniel [the first African-American to win an Oscar] for enduring. Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, because you touched it the world saw it. Thank you for showing me that sometimes you have to forgo what’s popular for what’s right.”

7.05am

First Oscar for Avatar. Sigourney Weaver recalled her earlier film with Avatar director James Cameron – Aliens – and how the stunning sets were subsequently destroyed by the rampaging extraterrestrials. So it was with no small amount of joy that she presented the award for Outstanding Art Direction to Avatar – the first award for the film, which is nominated for eight others.
7.30am

Second and third award for The Hurt Locker – this time for Best Sound Editing and Sound Mixing to Paul N. J. Ottoson.

7.35am

Second win for Avatar, this time in Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography – as predicted, they are picking up the technical awards.

That’s three to The Hurt Locker, two to the rival Avatar.

7.50am (UAE time)

So, who’s leading the field? So far, it’s a three-man field between Precious, Avatar and its main rival, The Hurt Locker.

The Hurt Locker has three awards: Sound editing, sound mixing, and best original screenplay for Mark Boal - who is currently being sued over the story.

Avatar has two: Art direction and cinematography.

Precious has two: Best supporting actress for Mo’Nique and Adapted Screenplay.

8.00am

Though there was some very stiff competition from the likes of District 9 and Star Trek, there was really only one winner for the visual effects award: Avatar.

Avatar is now neck and neck with Hurt Locker – can it pull ahead?

8.35am

Jeff Bridges has won the award for best performance by an actor in a leading role.

Bridges, receiving his first Oscar for his role as country singer in Crazy Heart, held it to the sky and said, “mum and dad, look! My dad and my mum they loved showbiz so much. This is honouring them as much as it is me.“ The audience gave him a standing ovation – and he gave yet another shout-out to the film’s songwriter T-Bone Burnett.

8.50am

Sandra Bullock has won for best actress for The Blind Side. She’s looking very emotional as she collects her first Oscar. “Did I just wear you all down?” She described the last month as “an incredible ride” and shared her award with her fellow nominees and the people who “showed me kindness was it wasn’t fashionable. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, I know.” She also paid tearful tribute to her mother, Helga – and yet still managed to end on a comical note – thanking “my lover, Meryl Streep”.

9.00am

The Hurt Locker has won best picture at the Academy Awards, taking the film’s total haul to six awards, including best director for Kathryn Bigelow.

In depth: Oscars 2010

In an unusual turn of events, presenter Tom Hanks read out the name of the winner without reading the nominees, before Bigelow had even had time to leave the stage with her best director award. She returned, visibly shocked, to the stage, and again thanked men and women in uniform – including firemen.

9.15am (UAE time)

Fish Prices Shoot Up

RAS AL KHAIMAH — The prices of fish have gone up here due to the shortage in supply as the bad weather conditions continue to prevent fishermen from venturing into the sea.

The customers who visited the fish market in Ras Al Khaimah in the past few days said the traders were selling hamour at Dh45 per 1kg instead of Dh30 they charged last month.

Ahmed Abdul Karim, an Emirati customer, said the price of 1kg of sherry has risen from Dh15 to Dh25 and that of biyah from Dh25 to Dh30-35.

Ali Sajeed, a fish trader, said the prices of other species of fish, including safi, have also increased by more than 30 per cent due to the huge shortage in supply.

Since Saturday, many fishermen have reduced their trips to the sea due to the rains and the strong winds which also made the sea unstable. “A few fishermen who still go to the sea come up with smaller catches but demand higher prices,” said Sajeed.

Mohammed Majid, a fisherman in Ma’aridh area, said those who still venture into the sea for fishing in these weather conditions are risking their lives.

“I have docked my fishing boat on the beach and I have not moved out since Sunday. The sea is very unstable. There are strong winds and the conditions are rough especially at night which is the best time for trapping fish,” said Majid.

Regular fish customers are not impressed by the reasons behind the increase in the prices. They believe the traders and fishermen are fleecing customers in the name of bad weather.

Ahmed Al Baroushi, an official from the Consumer Protection Unit at the Department of Economic Development here, said though there is a shortage of fish, the fishermen are not supposed to increase the prices without approval from the department.

He promised that the officials would intervene to stabilise fish prices in the markets.

Torn Between Two Lovers

Last night , March 5, 2010, was a big night for my friend M or should I call him, Garampingat.

Its his 37th birthday. Sounds old but looks (not so) young.

Gaganapin ang selebrasyon sa kaharian ni Jing or should I Call him, Princess Urduja.

Tanghali palang sinundo na ako sa bahay nina Garampingat at Noel, or should I call him as Welga.

We had a little chitchat when M's 'man of his life' arrived with Jay.

Ako ang unang pumansin kay Jay, siguro pinangatawanan niya na hindi na niya ako kakausapin or tatawagan after that incident happened between us.

Mahirap naman kasi ang gusto niyang mangyari.

I am with Kabit right now, and he wants me to let go Kabit.

Ayokong makuryente habang natutulog no. electrician kaya iyon.

When Princess Urduja asked me to go with him in Dubai, Jay asked me to stay.

But I already said yes to Princess.

And he said, if I wont stay, I can't see him anymore or he will not talk to me anymore.

Fine, I can live with that.

But yesterday. When i saw him again, there was a strange feeling in me towards him.

With a new hair cut, seems body is leaning and getting masculine???

I have to admit... I'm just a pretty lady who always fall inlove in every first time.

I can love as many as I can, at one time.

But I can't keep them, at one time... It's always complicated.

Philippine Election

The countdown continuous for Philippines Presidential election in May 10, 2010.

And the countdown is 68 days away from general elections starting today, march 4, 2010.

The Philippines will choose for its 16th President & vice president in the making when full independence had been given to the people to choose or elect their supremes.

Likewise, this election shall also be the first time that the Commission of Elections will implement full automation of elections, meaning votes of filipinos will be counted my machines and not in manual manner, like what we did before.

Yes, I was once become a poll watcher in our community last 2004 election.

And it turned out to be scary. I was paid for Php 500.00 in equivalent for my precious life, to watch over counting of ballots, and delivering to municipality hall.

Counting had begun, in the middle of the night, electricity of the entire building turned down.

There was a screaming, yelling, and shouting.

The door slammed heavily, and I dont know where to go.

I dont know what happened next, it was really dark inside our room.

Only one thing came to my mind, that was part of election, as long as you wont fight back to the intruders, you wont be harmed.

And suddenly, lights came back, tally sheets had been scattered. I just didnt notice if plus or minus had been done in it.

They said, 15th President of the Philippines won by cheating.

I dont argue for that.

Hopefully, in the forthcoming election, as they said, that all kind of security level on protecting automated elections will be successful.

And the president and vice president to be declared are those who really voted and choosed by all filipinos which they may think deserve to be in Malacanan.

And who would you choose?

RAK Farmers Hit Badly by Heavy Rains

RAS AL KHAIMAH — The bad weather conditions including heavy rains and strong winds affected many farms in Ras Al Khaimah especially those near the valleys causing huge losses to
the farmers.

More than 200 trees including palms, mangoes and other tress in the agricultural areas of Sha’am- in the northern parts of Ras Al Khaimah were uprooted during the rains that lashed the emirate on Tuesday. Soil erosion was also experienced in the farms near the mountains areas as the running water washed away the top soil and some plants.

Saeed Al Zhori, a resident of Sha’am said the poor weather conditions caused extensive damages to his farm and to the farms of other people in his area.

“Many palm trees and other crops on my farm were uprooted by the strong winds during the rains that lashed most parts of Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday morning. Although we need the rains for our date farms, this year’s rain has been destructive and I have suffered huge losses,” said Al Zhori.

Another farmer Musa Kayed said the rainwater flooded some farms in his area and affected many plantations.

“The running water from the mountains washed away the top soils in some farms. Weaker plants were also uprooted and washed away by the water,” he added. Kayed noted that many farmers suffered great losses during these rains and called on the authorities to help compensate them for the damages.

The rains were also reported to have caused environmental damages in the remote areas of the emirate and some natural trees were damaged and others uprooted. The rains also caused some damages to the public facilities in the emirate including roads and the Department of Public works in Ras Al Khaimah has been working round the clock to fix many of the affected facilities.

On Saturday night, the floods washed away a large section of the road leading to Wadi Al Baih which forced the authorities to close the road. Abdullah Yusuf, general supervisor at the Department of Public Works and Services in RAK said since Sunday, a large number of water tankers have been used to pump out water from the streets and near people’s homes in the various areas of the emirate and also in the wadis.

Kumander Bawang

Allium sativum commonly known as garlic, is a species in the onion family ALLIACEAE.

Garlic has been used throughout history for both culinary and medicinal purposes.

In test tube studies, garlic has been found to have antibacterial, antirival, antifungal activity. Garlic is also claimed to help prevent heart disease, including high cholesterol, high blood pressure and cancer.

Another study showed that supplementation with garlic extract inhibited vascular calcification in human patients with high blood cholesterol.

Garlic may help fight cancer, new research suggests.

The research is all about body processes associated with nitrogen-containing compounds. These processes include nitrosation, or the conversion of some substances found in foods or contaminated water into carcinogens.

About 20% of nitrates that are consumed convert into nitrites. A cascade of events can convert these compounds into what are called nitrosamines, and many, but not all, nitrosamines are linked to cancer.

In my case, why does my tastebuds do not like the taste of garlic?

I love to cook with spices & herbs like garlic, but seems doesn't feel to swallow garlic.

When it used to, I feel vomiting, I feel irritated. I dont even like the smell of it.

Kaya siguro mahina ang immune system ko, madaling akong magkasakit, madali akong kapitan ng common illnesses, and i feel like I am suffering from high blood pressure.

Garlic or bawang also, as commonly known in Philippines, ay pangontra sa mga aswang, manananggal at kung anu-ano pang masasamang ispiritu.

Rain Gently Falls

Rain on Tuesday caused flooding in some key roads and caused traffic delays in parts of Dubai and Sharjah.

There is flooding on most routes and all major arterial roads are moving slowly.

The atmospheric system responsible for the weather has been bringing in moisture-laden clouds from over Ethiopia and the Red Sea via Yemen and Saudi Arabia and resulted in the heavy rain that hit the country since Saturday.

"This kind of weather is not unusual in this month," said a weatherman, noting that the rain has been rather delayed this year. February is normally the year's wettest month and witnesses thunderstorms, rain and gusty winds all over the country.
